Excerpts from Beverley Group Annual Report 2007
In December a Christmas lunch was enjoyed by all at the Farmer's Arms in
Fridaythorpe, this followed a walk in the morning led by Dennis Parker.
Another meal was also enjoyed in September at a social evening in the
Rambler's Rest in Millington.
The Footpaths Committee continues to meet and carry on with their
excellent work. A lot of work has also been done by individuals on the
"Use your paths challenge"
In July for the third year running the Beverley Group arranged the Area
stand at this year's Driffield Show, a great number of people were attracted
to the show and the stand received many visitors.
In October members of the group attended the "Apple Fest" at the
Millennium Orchard, Beverley Parks which was well attended and a successful
event. Chris Toohie has invited us to the event next year on 12th October
2008 and also to the "Eco Fair" at Skidby Mill on 12th September 2008
organised by Martin's House Children's Hospice.
Jean Cavill, Group Secretary
The group's Footpath Sub-Committee is very active in monitoring local paths and sorting out problems. As a new development, some members recently volunteered to team up with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to put up signs indicating newly-designated areas of open "Access" land, discovering some stunning scenery in the process - even in the rain!
If there are any ramblers out there who would relish the opportunity to join this elite team of volunteers (at present a gang of four), please contact Ivor Jones (01482 882385) or Ken Russ (01482 869380). There is much more work to be done. Transport, tools and materials supplied - just bring a pack-up and waterproofs! FREE insurance cover by ERYC
