GYBO Annual Report 2005-2006
This has been another busy year for GYBO. Once again our membership has
increased due to the exciting calendar of events.
Highlights of the Year
In spring we embarked on the Cleveland Way, which, was very popular with
seven people completing the entire distance. The end was celebrated with a
weekend at Scarborough and enjoyable meal.
Other highlights have been the numerous trips away. Easter marked our first
trip north of the border, staying at Coldingham Sands. We have also been to
the Lake District twice and the Yorkshire Dales. On the second visit to the
Dales we invited members of the Peterborough Young Walkers to join us having
met them at the General Council in Nottingham. The weekends are well
supported with between 12 and 20 attendees.
Walks
We are now able to provide a walk each weekend throughout most of the year.
These vary from 5 to 18 miles and cover a very large geographical area with
interest for everyone. Average attendance is 12 per walk and it is common to
have at least one new person.
Forward Planning.
The calendar is already looking busy. Major highlights include our AGM
during November, and Christmas will bring the now traditional carols at
Rievaulx. Our Easter trip to Snowdonia has already been fully booked and we
are planning other weekends away in the Lakes, Peaks, Moors and Dales! These
together with the Inn Way to the North York Moors will form the backbone of
the next year.
Report compiled by Cath Guest GYBO Membership Secretary and Webmaster &
Karen Green.
I would like to thank the committee and membership for their support and
hard work which has made 2005 our best year yet and it is good to see that
2006 already promises to be another exceedingly busy year for GYBO.
