Excerpts form the Annual Report 2007-2008 Hull &
Holderness RA Group
Whilst the Group has not been able to attract more members to become
officers of the group, at the February 2008 Planning Meeting two new Walk
Leaders offered their services and this enabled the Group to put together a
very attractive Summer Evening Walks Programme. A total of twelve
walks were held, which took place between May and July, all of which were
very well attended with 16 plus people taking part in each walk. Many of the
walks had people who were first time walkers with the RA and the feedback
from them was always very positive. However, if the Summer Evening
Walks Programme is to continue in 2009 more Walk Leaders are needed and
again the plea goes out for people to come forward to ensure that some of
the areas most interesting scenery may, yet again, be shared by many.
Mike Jackson continues to run his series of walks on Monday afternoons and
these also are very well attended. Concerns regarding footpath access
have been raised by some people and these have been passed on to Mike
Jackson, who has dealt with all the queries in an efficient and enthusiastic
manner. Mike also continues his brilliant work on access issues and is a
force to be reckoned with when meeting officials from the Local Authorities.
During the year the Group held two meetings, one a planning meeting in
February and their AGM in October 2008.
