Walking with the East Yorkshire and Derwent Ramblers

Ryedale Group Walk Cancellation
Ryedale Group's walk on the North York Moors on Sunday 7 March has been cancelled.  This is due to bad road and footpath conditions.  There has been subsidence on some of the roads and they are closed.  There is still plenty of snow up on the Moors and the footpaths are not clear.
Sorry for having to cancel another walk but safety has to be our main concern.

Pub Lunch Walk Saturday, 20th March

The March Pub Lunch Walk is from the Wolds Village adjacent to the roundabout just north of Bainton, starting probably 9.30 am (tbc). (Take the road from Bainton towards Wetwang and the entrance is immediately left after the roundabout). Whilst this isn't exactly a pub, the food has always been good and it is licensed to sell alcohol. The menu is fairly extensive from cafe style snacks to full meals. The route is 8.5 miles - very flat, so I am expecting to be back for lunch by about 1:00 pm.  All welcome, Roy.

Our Programme
Each September, all RA members in the area receive our walks programme for the year in booklet form containing details of several hundred walks.  Non-members are welcome to join us on any of these walks.  All are welcome, just turn up suitably equipped (see information below).  If you have not walked with us before, please introduce yourself to the leader. Each RA Group in the area organises a programme of led walks which our Rambles Secretary co-ordinates in order to produce the booklet.  These range from under five miles to 15 miles in length.

Click here to see our combined 2009-10 Area Rambles Programme as it appears in our programme booklet.  Please consult the key to the notes and abbreviations.

Using the Walks Finder
Details of walks for each group or for the entire area can be accessed by clicking  on the left hand side of this page.  This will give full details for each walk arranged by group.  The start point is given as a grid reference.  If you do not have the relevant OS map, click on More Details and scroll down to the bottom of the page where you will find maps showing the start point of the walk.

Safety

Please be aware that all sporting and leisure activities have inherent hazards associated with them and rambling is no exception. In spite of the safety of members always being the paramount concern, accidents will occasionally occur. It is important, therefore, that when entering into the activity, each participant appreciates that they have a responsibility to identify and take all reasonable steps to eliminate or minimise the potential for an accident to arise.

Extra care must be taken when walking on or crossing roads. It is usual to face oncoming traffic, and walk on the outside of bends, in single file. The rule is to follow the advice of the leader.
