Walking with the East Yorkshire and Derwent Ramblers
STOP PRESS!
Amendment to start point of Scarborough Group Walk Sunday 4th July
Because of road closure due to repairs, DO NOT TRY TO GET TO THE START
VIA THE CARLTON ROAD FROM HELMSLEY!!! Follow directions for Bransdale
from Kirbymoorside.Come up the eastern side of the dale and round the
head past Cockayne. Park on the grass near the gate where the road works
are taking place. The start and finish of my original walk are
inaccesible from there so I am currently planning an alternative route!
Hope to see you there,
Judy Trafford
Our Programme
Each September, all
RA members in the area receive our walks programme for the year in
booklet form containing details of several hundred walks.
Non-members are welcome to join us on any of these walks.
All are welcome, just turn up suitably equipped (see information below).
If you have not walked with us before, please introduce yourself to the
leader.
Each RA Group in the area organises a programme of led
walks which our Rambles Secretary co-ordinates in order to produce the
booklet. These range from under five miles to 15 miles in length.
revised programme booklet which
incorporates many extra summer walks. Please
consult the key to the
notes and
abbreviations.

Safety
Please be aware that
all sporting and leisure activities have inherent hazards associated
with them and rambling is no exception. In spite of the safety of
members always being the paramount concern, accidents will occasionally
occur. It is important, therefore, that when entering into the activity,
each participant appreciates that they have a responsibility to identify
and take all reasonable steps to eliminate or minimise the potential for
an accident to arise.
Extra care must be
taken when walking on or crossing roads. It is usual to face oncoming
traffic, and walk on the outside of bends, in single file. The rule is
to follow the advice of the leader.
