East Yorkshire and Derwent Area Ramblers

walking to protect our local countryside

The usual turnout for a Howden & Goole Sunday walk is 12 to 15 members. When Marian Thomas arrived at Market Weighton car park for her 8 mile 'snow drop' walk she thought several groups must be starting from there as so many were waiting to set off - however, all 34 walkers were assembled for Marian's walk.

Although cool, it was fine and sunny, ideal for walking as everyone set off along The Hudson Way Trail with a brief stop at Rifle Butts Quarry before continuing to Goodmanham and onwards to Londesborough.

This served as a lunch stop and an opportunity to see the 'snowdrops' in and around the Church. The return section was along the Yorkshire Wolds Way that proved to be a continual challenge of muddy paths, to reach Towthorpe Grange, with the final stage being across the aptly named Weighton Clay Field.
