East Yorkshire and Derwent Area Ramblers

walking to protect our local countryside

A frosty and fine autumnal morning at Helmsley as 18 members arrived for this 10.5 mile walk led by Jill Wiseman.

Any chill factor quickly disappeared shortly after setting off when the group started their pleasant gradual ascent north through Collier Hag Wood to reach Acre Grain Plantation. Continuing on through woodland and bracken before emerging at Oscar Park Farm the route turned south with a lunch stop near Air Bank Wood.

Resuming, the group walked towards Rievaulx village, joining the road opposite the remains of the Cistercian Abbey and then following the Cleveland Way track back to Helmsley.
