East Yorkshire and Derwent Area Ramblers

walking to protect our local countryside

An overcast mild morning with a promise of sunshine at Fridaythorpe Pond as 29 members arrived to start an 11 mile walk led by Tony Corrigan.

Weather predications proved correct as glorious winter sunshine appeared shortly after the hour. Taking a route through West Dale, Brubber Dale and Thixen Dale, walkers were treated to great views of the Yorkshire Wolds. Continuing to Thixendale Village and then the challenge of Beamer Hill, before a lunch stop above Vessey Pasture Dale.

An excellent day for walking, meeting York Group and Bridlington U3A members along the route - also a shooting party in Thixen Dale.

Following parts of the Chalkland Way and Centenary Way the return section went via Water Dale and Paradise Farm,  before re - entering Brubber Dale and the final ascent back to Fridaythorpe.

If only such weather conditions could be the winter norm!
