East Yorkshire and Derwent Area Ramblers

walking to protect our local countryside

A pleasant but cool morning at Watton as 34 members arrived for a 10 mile walk led by Martin Hill. Setting off from the lay by the group crossed fields, passing Watton Abbey with a history going back to 1150, being a remnant of a Gilbertine priory.

Continuing, It was towards the Beverley and Barmston Drain before turning north east to follow the River Hull and Tophill Low Nature Reserve for a couple of miles.

Eventually turning west for the return section, the group walked along country roads and field edge paths to the car park.
